PICKLEBALL SESSIONS
We are pickleball enthusiasts and our aim is to grow pickleball in the UK, and especially in north Shropshire, north Staffordshire and south Cheshire.
If you are a complete beginner or an advanced player, we have sessions for you!
All sessions run for 1.5 hours and cost £7.50 per person*, with coaching and equipment provided. All our sessions are run by trained coaches and leaders.
We guarantee that at the end of each session, you will have had fun, made new friends, and had a great workout!

Please note:
- All members above a rating of 2 can attend open sessions. Beginners can also attend open sessions by appointment.
- To progress to improver sessions, players must be deemed suitable by one of the coaches. The same applies to progressing to intermediate and advanced sessions. The skills the coaches will be looking for is summarised below; more detailed information can be found here
Improver (2-2.9)
Someone who:
- Has completed a number of beginner sessions.
- Understands most of the rules, can keep score, and knows where to be on court.
- Can consistently serve and return, sometimes deep and sometimes into the desired places.
- Understands and sometimes use some simple gameplay strategies, such as dinks and lobs.
- Is becoming more strategic with their shot placement and is playing a more aggressive game.
- Plays mainly consistent volleys when at the kitchen but plays shots that are too high and easily attacked.
- Choice and execution of shots is still inconsistent.
- Court positioning, and gameplay strategy needs improvement.
Intermediate (3-3.9)
Someone who:
- They can play competitively with other players of intermediate ability.
- Understands how to move opponents around the court and are using dinks, drives, drops and lobs as a regular part of their game.
- Uses a wide range of different shots with consistency and control, including the third shot drop.
- Covers the court effectively as part of a doubles team.
- Regularly achieves good depth on their shots and attempts to play unattackable shots.
- Makes few unforced errors and plays few shots out.
Advanced (4+)
Someone who:
- Executes a wide range of shots with precision, control and consistency, and knows when to play them.
- Serves and returns consistently with depth speed and spin to force errors.
- Has a strong understanding of the rules and doubles strategy.
- Anticipates their opponents’ shots.
- Regularly hits 3rd/5th shot drops, winning shots and resets.
- Has good footwork, excellent court coverage and positioning.
- Develops strategies to move to the kitchen.
- Has excellent gameplay strategy, which is varied and adaptable, making use of soft shots, dinks, pace, angles, and lobs to set up offensive situations.
- Understands the importance of keeping the ball in play and minimising errors.
Can excel in stressful situations, such as tournament or match play.
Went to a session with my 12 year old daughter, neither of us having played before. The session was well organised and explained, really good fun and we will go again! If you've never done it, give it a go, no experience necessary.
