Pickleball and the Feel Good Factor
Here at Pickleball Towers we take mental health seriously. As a team of three we are pretty good at keeping each other buoyant while we get on the background work of running Pickleball People, but it’s on the pickleball court that we find the true purpose to our business. In a fast paced, deadline driven world where it feels like our minds are constantly racing to keep up, playing pickleball is where we tune out the noise, forget the craziness of life and have some fun!
And we are not the only ones to find inner peace and happiness on the pickleball court. Many celebrities are picking up a paddle to indulge their inner child – less fancy than posh gyms and expensive spa treatments and so much more satisfying!
Professor Brene Brown has spent her career studying the emotions and experiences that bring meaning and purpose to our lives. She says:
“For me, joy + play = pickleball. The court may be the only place in the world where I’m fully in the now. Not thinking ahead, worrying, wondering – just keeping my eye on the ball and my head in the game”.
For others the social aspect of pickleball is as an important as being active and “in the moment”. Mental health professionals agree that spending time being active with others helps to promote friendship and social interaction, which means we laugh more and enjoy life more. Something we can certainly relate to. We leave the pickleball with a smile on our faces, we might have laughed together at an “easy” missed shot, applauded ourselves for an “amazing rally” or marvelled at one of players leaping in the air like Tigger to make that overhead smash!
However you enjoy your free time, we hope that you too have that feeling of jumping for joy!
