New Year, New Sport? Try Pickleball!

Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the US. If you are looking for a new, fun and easy to learn activity, it could well be for you. Here are just 3 reasons why should give it a go:

Pickleball makes you smile

Pickleball takes me back to childhood days playing simple bat and ball on the beach with my family. It draws on tennis, badminton and table tennis but there is far less of a skills hurdle to enjoy playing, the rules are straightforward and the atmosphere it creates, in my experience, evokes a holiday vibe. Every person I have introduced to the game has picked it up quickly and has left smiling and wanting to play again.

Pickleball is great for your physical and mental health

We all know that sport and exercise are good for our physical and mental wellbeing but not everyone wants to pound the pavements, lift weights, or participate in an overly competitive sport. Pickleball is a fantastic alternative.

Pickleball is a low impact activity so players are less prone to injury than any of the above. You don’t have to be super fit to play, but playing regularly will improve your fitness.

Pickleball is inclusive

Pickleball is for all – from children to retirees and everyone in between, with no discernible advantage (at our level!) for men over women. So, it’s great for mixing in and being sociable. Picklers are friendly and don’t take themselves too seriously – how could you with a game that is supposedly named after the inventor’s dog?!

How do I get involved? I hear you cry!

The good news is that Pickleball is coming to Staffordshire with taster sessions and courses scheduled for January and February. You can register your interest by emailing info@pickleballpeople.co.uk or by contacting Rachel via Facebook.
